Contracts Administrator / Contracts Engineer: Oil & Gas E&P
Location: Surrey (office-based, 5 days per week initially, with potential to move to hybrid during the contract)
Contract: Initial 12 months
Rate: Up to £500 per day (outside IR35)

The role
Our client, a leading Oil & Gas E&P operator, is looking for a Contracts Administrator / Engineer to join its team in Surrey on an initial 12-month contract. You'll provide contract administration support for service and subcontract arrangements, working alongside engineers, project colleagues, and third-party contractors.
You'll be office-based five days per week to begin with. This may reduce to a hybrid arrangement over the course of the contract.
Key responsibilities
- Administer contracts and subcontracts, from award through to close-out.
- Prepare, review, and process contract documentation and contractor submissions.
- Support the contract award process, including contract documents and internal approvals.
- Administer variations and change, tracking schedule and risk impacts.
- Monitor contract correspondence and flag potential claims or delivery issues early.
- Maintain contract files and databases, keeping records accurate and up to date.
- Work with Legal, Finance, and Insurance colleagues to make sure contracts follow the client's contracting guidelines.
- Support project and engineering colleagues in understanding the contractual implications of each scope of work.
- Assist with reporting and the upkeep of contract documents.

About you
- Around 5 years' contracts administration or engineering experience within Oil & Gas, ideally with an E&P operator or a Tier 1 service company.
- Hands-on experience of contract and subcontract administration, including variations and change control.
- Keen attention to detail, with a methodical approach to documentation and record keeping.
- Happy working in an office environment five days per week initially.
- Clear written and verbal communication, and comfortable working with colleagues across different departments.
- Well organised, able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint.
