Role Overview
An insurance business is bringing in an experienced AI engineer on contract to build and ship production AI tools for its teams.
The Contract
You'll join a small, hands-on team and start delivering straight away. You'll work closely with business users to understand how their work gets done, then turn that into secure, production-ready AI systems. They need someone who can pick up a problem in week one and have something running soon after.
The Stack
- AWS serverless services
- PostgreSQL with vector search, embeddings and semantic retrieval
- LLMs through the major model providers, plus orchestration and prompt engineering
- Agentic AI: tool calling, retrieval pipelines, multi-step workflows, human-in-the-loop
- Document processing and data extraction
- Integration with enterprise data platforms
- Working alongside React/TypeScript frontend teams

What You'll Need
- A track record of shipping LLM applications into production on previous contracts, not just proofs of concept
- A solid grasp of what makes LLM apps reliable: structured outputs, grounding, evaluation, fallback logic and observability
- Hands-on agentic AI experience
- Strong backend engineering on AWS
- Enough confidence to sit with non-technical users, work out what to build, and own it end to end
