Assistant Accountant (Contract) – Day rate contract – London – Hybrid working
We're partnering with a globally recognised fashion retailer to recruit an Assistant Accountant on a contract basis for an immediate start.
Joining a high-performing EMEA finance team, you'll support multiple UK and European entities, playing a key role in reconciliations, month-end close and maintaining the integrity of the balance sheet. This role is ideal for an Assistant Accountant with strong reconciliation experience who enjoys investigating issues, solving problems and working with stakeholders across the business. Retail or consumer experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end bank reconciliation process across multiple UK and European entities
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and support month-end close activities
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items, liaising with internal stakeholders to clear outstanding balances
- Post journals for bank charges, commissions and other non-sales transactions
- Manage Other Receivables and Payables reconciliations, ensuring aged balances are investigated and resolved
- Prepare reconciliation summaries and support statutory reporting requirements
- Provide wider support across the EMEA finance team and assist with process improvements

Requirements
- Must have proven experience with bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close
- Junior general ledger/accounting experience
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate and resolve reconciliation issues
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Studying towards ACCA or CIMA, or equivalent accounting experience
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with BlackLine, Oracle, Hyperion or similar finance systems is advantageous
