The Project
We have been appointed to a diverse 3-year, multi £M programme to redevelop a Central Government campus site in the London/Surrey area.
We are the Project Manager Delivery Partner, delivering construction of enabling, infrastructure, and building projects in a live environment on a site of international scientific importance, maintaining logistics and operations with technical and construction partners.
Our client is looking to transform their campus and how they operate while maintaining a world-class science and research capability, retaining and developing specialist expertise, in a collaborative and health and safety conscious way.
The Role
The Commercial Manager shall work with and integrate with the wider programme delivery teams and contribute to commercial, procurement, pre-construction, and delivery stage activity. Experience in NEC4 ECC Contracts is essential.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Managing and building relationships with all stakeholders and suppliers, monitoring and reporting their performance and compliance.
- Producing payment certificates for interim payments to suppliers in accordance with contract requirements and recommendations for signing off by the appropriate Project Manager.
- Providing post-contract award contract and commercial services for both 'goods' and'services' up to and including final account.
- Maintaining financial impact assessments for instructed change/compensation events.
- Negotiating on financial impacts of compensation events with suppliers.
- Maintaining the project data sets to achieve consistency, accuracy, and alignment.
- Assisting cost and expenditure planning/benchmarking in accordance with client process.
- Supporting cost management and forecasting to the project.
- Supporting management of budget and spend profiles continually identifying ways to improve cost performance.
- Calculating and management of the Mace commission monthly fee including resource planning and cashflow forecasting.
- Assisting with auditing of contract administration project management.
- Carrying out cost impact analysis of proposed changes to scope/schedule.
- Assisting Project Managers in the preparation of cost reports and analysis on a work breakdown structure/activity basis, identifying areas of learning and any recommendations for efficiency improvement.

You’ll need to have:
- Experience working in the construction sector covering Pharma, Health and Life Sciences would be an advantage.
- Management disciplines include value management and programme development and monitoring, ensuring delivery against key milestone targets.
- Acknowledgement of responsibilities and acceptance of ownership.
- Excellent interpersonal skills in creating, managing, and maintaining relationships, able to converse with clients and stakeholders to director level.
- Previous experience of working on large Public Sector schemes, delivering multiple packages of work from design through to completion. Ability to demonstrate you understand the importance of service excellence and stakeholder engagement, be able to work collaboratively with the full project team.

- A degree in a relevant construction-related discipline and will have or be working towards a professional qualification.
- A construction background, ideally in Commercial or Cost Management, and be keen to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace has to offer.
