Our Mission

Coventry University Group is a global education group with a mission of Creating Better Futures. We are driven by our passionate belief in the transformational power of education and research to enable and empower our students, colleagues and partners and to improve the world around them.

Our people are key to our success, and each role contributes to the Group’s ongoing progress in communities around the world.

The Role

As the Contractor Controller (Electrical), you will supervise and coordinate electrical maintenance contractors and support the delivery of safe, compliant, and high-quality electrical maintenance services across Coventry University Group's campuses. You will be responsible for overseeing contracted planned preventative maintenance, reactive works, statutory inspections, and minor electrical projects, ensuring all activities are carried out in line with contractual obligations, statutory requirements, and agreed service levels.

A key part of the role involves managing contractor performance, reviewing risk assessments and permits to work, auditing workmanship quality, and ensuring compliance with electrical safety procedures. You will act as the primary operational link between contractors, in-house technical teams, faculties, students, and stakeholders, helping to ensure works are delivered efficiently and with minimal disruption to campus activities.

Using the Planon CAFM system (training provided where necessary), you will coordinate maintenance activities, maintain compliance records and asset information, monitor contractor KPIs, and support the administration of electrical contracts. You will also provide technical guidance on electrical systems, assist with fault finding and incident response, and support the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives across the Estates and Infrastructure Services team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
