We're working with a growing technology organisation looking for an experienced Senior Backend Developer to join an established engineering team working on the continued development and modernisation of a large-scale software platform.
This will be a backend-focused position, ideal for an experienced C#/.NET Engineer who enjoys building scalable, maintainable and well-tested services, while contributing to engineering standards and modern development practices.

πŸ’» What you'll be doing

  • Designing and developing backend services using C# /.NET
  • Working extensively with SQL Server, including data modelling and performance optimisation
  • Designing and developing RESTful APIs and integrations
  • Building scalable services within a distributed software environment
  • Writing high-quality unit and automated tests
  • Contributing to CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
  • Improving application performance, scalability and maintainability
  • Participating in code reviews and technical design discussions
  • Troubleshooting production issues and contributing to root-cause analysis
  • Working closely with Product and Engineering colleagues to turn business problems into practical technical solutions
  • Using AI development tools responsibly to improve engineering productivity and software delivery

🎯 Key experience

We're particularly interested in strong commercial experience across:

  • C# /.NET – Essential
  • SQL Server – Essential
  • Unit Testing – Essential
  • CI/CD – Essential
  • Modern DevOps practices – Essential

You'll ideally have 5+ years' commercial software engineering experience and be comfortable discussing architecture, API design, testing strategy, performance and technical trade-offs.

πŸ€– AI experience

AI is an important part of the engineering direction, so we're looking for someone who can demonstrate a good understanding of AI-assisted software development.
This could include using tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude or similar to support coding, testing, code reviews, documentation, debugging or engineering productivity.
Experience of building or integrating AI-driven functionality would also be beneficial.

☁️ Nice to have

Experience with AWS/cloud-based architectures would be advantageous but isn't essential.
Exposure to areas such as distributed systems, caching, shared services, authentication and high-scale applications would also be useful.
