Contract Front-End Developer

We’re looking for an exceptional Contract Front-End Developer to join a high-performing technology team within a leading bank, where your expertise will help shape modern digital experiences at scale. This is more than a hands-on coding role — we’re looking for an experienced Front-End Engineer who thrives on solving complex problems, enjoys having technical ownership and wants to make a genuine impact in a fast-moving, highly regulated environment.

You’ll work with React, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES9/2018), HTML5, CSS Modules and RESTful APIs, building responsive, high-quality applications using an internally developed JavaScript/React framework. The initial contract comes with the potential for extension, making this an excellent opportunity to get your foot in the door and build a longer-term relationship with the team.

You’ll be joining an environment where experienced engineers are trusted to make a difference.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • You’ll take ownership of Front-End solutions
  • Transform wireframes and visual designs into exceptional working applications
  • Help shape technical decisions across the delivery team

You’ll collaborate directly with Business and Technical Stakeholders, lead and participate in Show and Tell sessions, and act as the Front-End Subject Matter Expert, bringing your experience and ideas to the table. Just as importantly, you’ll help raise the bar across the wider Front-End and UI Development community through knowledge sharing, mentoring and championing engineering best practice.

We’re looking for someone with a proven track record of delivering modern, production-grade web applications in an Agile/Scrum environment. You’ll have strong experience with responsive UI development, React and TypeScript, as well as build tooling, static and dynamic code analysis and CI/CD pipelines such as Azure DevOps. You’ll also be confident writing and maintaining automated unit tests using tools such as Jest and Vite, with a genuine focus on clean, scalable, testable and maintainable code. Experience within banking, financial services or another highly regulated environment would be highly desirable, particularly if you understand the importance of risk, governance, security and compliance when delivering technology at scale.
