Contract Manager | Defence & National Security | Remote (Bristol/London) | Inside IR35
We're working with a leading organisation operating within the UK defence and national security sector to find two Contract Managers to join a growing portfolio of research and innovation contracts.
About the role
This is a post-signature contract management role, the contracts are already awarded and in delivery. You'll be the primary point of contact for a portfolio of assigned suppliers, taking contracts through to successful completion and close-out. It's a business-as-usual, supplier-facing role rather than a senior negotiation or procurement position - ideal for someone who's strong on delivery, governance, and detail rather than deal-making.
What you'll be doing:
- Acting as the main point of contact for a portfolio of assigned suppliers
- Monitoring supplier performance against contractual deliverables and milestones
- Running regular progress and performance review meetings
- Identifying, logging, and managing risk across your contracts
- Managing delivery issues, non-compliance, and any disputes that arise
- Monitoring contract spend against budget and validating invoices/payments
- Producing contract status reports and maintaining accurate, auditable records
- Preparing and delivering orderly contract close-out where required

What we're looking for:
- Active SC clearance (essential)
- Experience managing a portfolio of multiple contracts concurrently, through to delivery and closure
- Experience of supplier and stakeholder management, including performance review meetings
- Experience managing risk, issues, and contract changes on live contracts
- Financial oversight experience - monitoring spend, validating invoices/payments
- Strong organisational, communication, and reporting skills, with genuine attention to detail
- Public sector, defence, innovation, or research sector experience is a plus
