Contracts Manager – Aerospace & Defence
Luton
1-2 days a week
SC Clearance is essential
Up to £58 p/h Inside IR35
Are you an experienced security cleared Contracts Manager or Commercial professional with a strong background in the Aerospace & Defence sector?
We are looking for an ambitious and commercially astute security cleared Contracts Manager to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You will work across a diverse portfolio of UK and international customers, supporting both existing contracts and new business opportunities.
You will have a proven track record in commercial, business-winning and/or contract management roles within the Aerospace & Defence sector, ideally with experience operating in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Key skills
- Security cleared (SC) currently
- Experience operating with UK Government and international contracts.
- The confidence and credibility to advocate and influence at senior levels within an organisation.
- A detailed understanding of business finance, including profit & loss, margin, mark-up, escalation and foreign exchange.
- Good knowledge of export legislation, import taxes and duties.
- A strong understanding of contract law and its practical application.
- The ability to identify commercial risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- A willingness to travel to UK sites and customers, with potential for occasional international travel.

Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic and tactical commercial oversight across multiple contracts and bid activities.
- Draft, negotiate and administer complex contractual terms and conditions, working closely with Procurement to ensure appropriate flow-down to subcontractors.
- Develop, document and present clear commercial strategies to achieve the best possible outcomes for the business.
- Develop accurate and compliant customer pricing using appropriate pricing strategies and models.
- Lead the preparation of commercial correspondence, ensuring appropriate stakeholder input and approvals.
- Draft and review commercial agreements, including Non-Disclosure Agreements, Software Licensing Agreements, Memorandums of Understanding and other contractual terms.
- Provide commercial leadership and contract administration across projects and programmes.
- Manage contractual change, monitor performance against contractual obligations and identify and mitigate commercial risk.
- Prepare customer proposals and the supporting internal documentation required for bid approval.
- Ensure compliance with relevant commercial processes, policies and governance.

This is a varied and commercially challenging position where no two contracts or opportunities will necessarily be the same. You will have the opportunity to work across key programmes, products and customers, providing commercial leadership within a major Electronic Warfare business.
