We’re Hiring – Contracts Manager

As Shopmate Ltd continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to join our team and help drive our upcoming projects forward.

We specialise in commercial refurbishments, shopfitting, petrol stations, convenience stores and restaurant projects across the UK. We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of projects from start to finish, manage client relationships, coordinate teams and ensure work is delivered to the highest standard.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in contract management, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction or commercial contracts.
  • Knowledge of construction industry practices, project delivery processes, and standard contract forms (e.g., NEC, JCT, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret legal and commercial terms and assess risk.
  • Proficiency in using contract management or document management systems and standard office software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail, time management, and the ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in Law, Business, Construction Management, or a related field; professional certifications in contract management are an advantage.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
