Contracts Manager – Civil Engineering
Location: Bristol / South West
Salary: Up to £70,000 DOE + Car/Car Allowance + Package + Bonus
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager ready to step into a Contracts Manager position with a major civil engineering contractor in the South West.
This is an ideal opportunity for a client-facing Project Manager who has progressed through an engineering/site delivery route and can demonstrate successful delivery of multiple major civil engineering projects.
You do not need to already hold the title of Contracts Manager. The focus is on finding someone with the right project delivery experience, technical background, and leadership capability to make that next career move.
The Role
Working as part of an established regional operations team, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of major civil engineering projects across the region.
Responsibilities will include:
- Overall responsibility for project delivery from pre-construction through to completion
- Leading and supporting site-based project teams
- Developing and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards
- Working closely with commercial teams to maintain strong financial performance
- Managing programme, risk, and project performance
- Supporting pre-construction and planning activities as new projects come through
- Providing leadership and direction to project teams
- Maintaining effective communication between clients, operational teams, and senior management

About You
We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who can demonstrate:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience operating at Project Manager level
- A career developed through an engineering/site delivery route
- Strong main contractor / Tier 1 civil engineering experience
- Successful delivery of more than one £10m–£20m+ civil engineering project
- Previous overall responsibility for project delivery, rather than solely individual packages
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management experience
- Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams
- A background within infrastructure, highways, or major civil engineering projects
