Contract Manager - Civil Engineering
Location: North West / Cheshire / North Wales
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, DOE + Package
My client is a reputable civil engineering sub-contractor that are going through some expansion. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Contract Manager to oversee multiple civil engineering projects across the North West, Cheshire and North Wales. This role is ideal for a driven and commercially aware professional with a strong background in civil engineering, reinforced concrete structures, drainage, retaining walls, and infrastructure projects.
The Role
As Contract Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of several projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will provide leadership to project teams while maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple civil engineering contracts from award through to completion.
- Lead Project Managers, Site Managers, Site Agents, and engineering teams.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme and budget.
- Oversee reinforced concrete works, drainage, retaining walls, highways, and general civils.
- Monitor commercial performance, project costs, and contractual obligations.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Identify project risks and implement effective solutions.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Produce regular progress and financial reports for senior management.

Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Contract Manager within the civil engineering sector.
- Strong technical knowledge of reinforced concrete, drainage, retaining walls, and general civil engineering.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets and programmes.
- SMSTS
- CSCS (Manager Card)
- First Aid at Work
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Temporary Works Coordinator.
- Experience working under NEC and JCT contracts.
- Chartered status or working towards ICE/CIOB accreditation.
