Role Overview
We’re seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to take the lead on our utility arboriculture portfolio in the East Sussex region and help us continue to grow this important area of the business. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on managing the full lifecycle of contracts—from early planning and mobilisation right through to delivery, completion and client review. Strong experience within the utilities sector is essential, along with the confidence to drive quality, customer satisfaction and commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal colleagues to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and within budget.
- Build long-term relationships, identify opportunities for growth, and play an active role in shaping how we deliver for our clients.
- Provide day-to-day support to surveyors and operational staff, offering guidance, sharing best practice, and encouraging collaborative working across the department.
- Source materials and subcontract services, coordinate plant, resources, and training, and ensure everything is in place for smooth, high-quality delivery.
- Manage budgets, monitor spend, address variances, and ensure timely invoicing across all projects.
- Take a proactive approach to health and safety—preparing RAMS, promoting safe working practices, and ensuring compliance is embedded throughout each contract.
- Regularly communicate with senior management and commercial teams, providing updates, highlighting risks, and contributing to discussions on operational improvements.
- Help refine processes, support continuous improvement, and champion our Customer Charter in every interaction with end users and the public.
