Contract IT Project Manager (Cyber Security) | Defence | Gloucestershire / Herefordshire | Outside IR35 | SC Cleared
The MOD has moved the goalposts on cyber security, and one of our defence clients needs someone to get them over the line.
They're an established name in the UK defence supply chain, working on programmes where security is never a box-ticking exercise. New MOD requirements mean their systems, controls and policies all need bringing up to standard. They want a contract IT Project Manager who has done this before to own it from start to finish.
The brief
Simple to say, hard to deliver: bring the organisation's cyber security and IT systems fully in line with the latest MOD legislation and standards (think Def Stan 05-138, the Cyber Security Model and DCPP).

In practice, you'll be:
- Running a gap analysis against the new requirements and turning it into a realistic, costed plan
- Managing the programme day to day, from infrastructure and system upgrades to policy and access-control changes
- Keeping internal IT, security leads and third-party suppliers moving in the same direction
- Reporting progress and risk clearly to senior stakeholders
- Leaving the business audit-ready, with documentation that holds up to MOD scrutiny
What they need
- Active SC clearance (the role is on site from day one)
- A track record delivering IT projects in defence, government or another regulated environment
- Hands-on experience of cyber compliance programmes such as Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001, NIST or MOD-specific frameworks
- Comfortable working on site in Gloucestershire / Herefordshire
- PRINCE2, APM or similar is useful, though your delivery record matters more
