About Us Optimus Search is a specialist technology and engineering recruitment firm, delivering permanent and contract talent solutions across the UK, DACH, and looking to grow a US desk. With two decades of expertise, we've built a reputation for deep specialism and a consultative, relationship-led approach to recruitment.

About the Role We're looking for an experienced Contract Recruitment Expert to join our growing team, focusing on the sourcing, placement, and management of contract/freelance talent within STEM markets. You'll own the full contract recruitment lifecycle β€” from business development and requirement-gathering through to candidate delivery and contractor care β€” while working closely with our specialist divisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end contract recruitment process: sourcing, screening, submitting, and placing contract candidates
  • Build and develop client relationships, identifying new contract opportunities within existing and prospective accounts
  • Maintain a strong, engaged pipeline of contract/freelance candidates across STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics)
  • Negotiate rates, contracts, and terms with both clients and candidates
  • Ensure compliance with relevant contractor legislation (e.g. IR35, right-to-work)
  • Provide ongoing contractor care to support retention and repeat business
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify cross-selling opportunities between permanent and contract desks

Your Profile

  • Proven track record in contract/freelance recruitment, ideally within STEM markets
  • Strong understanding of contractor compliance and legislation (IR35, right-to-work, etc.)
  • Excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills
  • Confident, self-motivated, and target-driven with a strong sense of ownership
  • Ability to manage a high-volume, fast-moving desk
  • Experience working with international clients (DACH/North America) advantageous
