About the Role
A Service Design & Transition Manager is required to join an enterprise level Digital IT function supporting a complex portfolio of change across 80+ concurrent projects ranging from short initiatives through to multi-year transformation programmes. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that new and changed services are designed, governed, and transitioned smoothly into live operational environments.
This is initially a 6 months contract with a chance for an extension, and is working Outside IR35.
The organisation is currently operating under ITIL v3 frameworks with a transition towards ITIL v4, and the Service Design & Transition Manager will be key in supporting that transition while maintaining strong service governance and operational stability.

You’ll work across a wide range of projects covering systems, IT support, infrastructure, and business units, ensuring services are designed with operational supportability in mind and that transitions into BAU are seamless. You will work with stakeholders and act as the bridge between project delivery teams and operational support functions, ensuring readiness, risk management, and service assurance are embedded from the outset.
Key Requirements
- Strong background in IT Service Management (ITIL v3 essential, ITIL v4 awareness is desirable)
- Proven experience in Service Design and Service Transition within IT projects and programmes at enterprise level
- Ability to anticipate risks and issues early in the project lifecycle and influence stakeholders accordingly
- Experience in defining, developing and delivering process workflows, SLAs, OLAs, and support models
- Strong understanding of operational readiness, service assurance, and handover into BAU
- Excellent stakeholder management across technical, business, and third-party teams
- Experience in managing RAID logs and governance frameworks
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects

Benefits
They are offering a day rate of £500 - £550 working Outside IR35, as well as mostly remote working, currently just twice a month at their office in Worthing.
