Contract Senior Software Engineer – Java / Kotlin - Manchester - 6 months £600 per day (Inside IR35)
Senior Software Engineer, with strong Java / Kotlin skills and Kafka, is required by a leading ecommerce company based in Manchester.
This is a hands-on senior contract role. You'll own complex integration flows, define how a new team works, and put proper engineering foundations in place.

- Designing and building backend services and APIs in Java/Kotlin (Spring Boot or similar), on Kubernetes with CI/CD
- Owning end-to-end connectivity flows
- Building reusable connectors and tooling to make onboarding cheaper and faster
- Leading design discussions, writing clear design docs, and reviewing code across the team
Required skills and experience
- Strong Senior software engineer experience
- Excellent skills with Java and /or Kotlin
- Strong distributed systems experience
- Cloud-native development (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD; AWS or similar)
- Kafka / message queues / event-driven architecture
- Strong communication skills

This is a contract role offering a daily rate between £550 - £600 per day (Inside IR35) for an initial 6 months with potential to extend.
