Excellent Contracts Specialist Opportunity!
We are looking for a Commercial Contracts professional to support the finance function with basic accounts administration while taking a lead role on commercial terms, contracts, and documentation across projects, suppliers, and customers. This role may suit someone from a Procurement/CIPS background who has an understanding of finance. The role suits an individual who has a very strong understanding of tenders, proposals & contracts with a baseline understanding of basic finance duties.

The Business
Our client is a market-leading Engineering Consultancy based in Teesside.
The Role
- Manage the commercial onboarding and due diligence of new clients and suppliers.
- Reviewing and assisting with negotiation of contracts, frameworks, T&Cs, and amendments.
- Preparing contract summaries and identifying contractual risks and obligations.
- Maintaining contract registers, templates, and controlled commercial documentation.
- Coordinate supplier/subcontractor contractual documentation.
- Supporting governance, compliance, and internal approval processes.
- Supporting dispute avoidance and contractual issue resolution.
- Tracking contractual obligations, renewals, and correspondence.
- Reviewing commercial terms within bids and tenders.
- Supporting pricing structures and contractual requirements.
- Preparing strategic proposals with the wider commercial team.
- Supporting continuous improvement of commercial processes and templates.
- Assist with preparation of monthly management accounts under Finance Director guidance.
- Processing invoices and reconciling supplier statements.
- Support with maintaining accruals and prepayment records.
- Preparing documentation for year-end accounts and audits.
- General accounting administration using Sage, Xero, or similar.

- Good attention to detail and organisational skills. Ability to track multiple workstreams and follow up on outstanding actions. Strong time management and prioritisation skills.
- Communication skills - Confident in making telephone calls, engaging regional managers to follow up and progress outstanding deliverables (reports etc.) for their teams. Strong written communication for accurate documentation and email correspondence.
- Initiative and Accountability - Able to work independently with minimal supervision and take ownership of following up with team members with persistence and professionalism.
- Teamwork - Comfortable working closely with others. Flexible and cooperative, willing to support where needed.
- Confident with Excel and general accounting software (Sage, Xero, or similar).
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally to client sites.
