About The Role

As part of Selwood’s continued growth and development of our Business Process activities, we’re looking for an experienced Contracts Specialist to join our team at our Chandler’s Ford, Hampshire office.

This is a 6–8 month fixed-term contract, depending on the successful candidate’s start date, and offers an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting our Pump Rental Business Unit.

As a Contracts Specialist, you’ll be responsible for the administration, negotiation and management of contracts and formal supply agreements, ensuring that contractual requirements are effectively managed and aligned with the needs of the business.

You’ll also play an important role in identifying and managing contractual risk, supporting compliance and ensuring that Selwood meets its obligations and commitments.

Responsibilities Of The Role Will Include

Standard form contract administration

  • Administration of standard form and bespoke contracts during the receipt, negotiation, delivery and completion phases, encompassing:
    • Supporting Sales & Solutions resources evaluate contract strategies at the point of enquiry,
    • Contract review, general assessment and risk evaluation,
    • Contract negotiation and sign off,
    • Identification, communication and management of contract mechanisms
    • Conduct / support contract mechanisms and management requirements
    • Provision of business support for commercial activities
  • To administer, maintain and develop commercial systems and data.

Commercial Management

  • Commercial management of formal agreements for the supply of goods and services subject to non-standard conditions of trade during contract tender, award and implementation phases, generated through competitive and non-competitive processes which will encompass:
    • Contract review, assessment and risk evaluation
    • Communication of risk, key contract clauses and compliance
    • Liaison and negotiation with clients relating to non-standard trading terms and conditions
    • Liaison with contracting bodies, insurance and legal services partners and consultants
    • Contract compliance management.

Administration

  • General
    • Liaison with contracting bodies, insurance, legal services and consultants
    • Support and promote compliance of company policy and procedure
    • To administer and maintain commercial folders, systems and data
    • Establish and develop client interfaces, nurturing relationships and gaining trust.
    • Attend client and pre-start meetings.
    • To remain abreast with relevant legislation and commercial best practice.

Knowledge base required;

  • Working knowledge of standard form and bespoke contracts within the Construction or allied industries is highly advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of a wide range of contracts specifically including NEC.
