Contract Technical IT Business Analyst – EDI
Location: Chippenham – 3 days per week onsite. No flexibility with this.
Contract: 3 months initially, with a strong likelihood of extension
Rate: Up to £450 per day, dependent on experience
We are working with a well-established organisation that is looking for an experienced Technical IT Business Analyst to join their team on an initial 3-month contract, with a strong likelihood of extension. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded Business Analyst with proven EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) experience to work across a range of IT and business systems initiatives. Experience within a manufacturing environment would be highly advantageous.
The Role
As a Technical IT Business Analyst, you will act as the key link between business stakeholders and technical teams, helping to understand business requirements, translate them into clear technical specifications, and support the successful delivery of IT projects. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, developers, IT teams, and third-party suppliers to analyse existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and deliver effective technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyse, and document detailed business and technical requirements
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand business processes, challenges, and objectives
- Translate business requirements into clear functional and technical specifications
- Analyse existing systems, processes, and data flows and identify areas for improvement
- Take ownership of EDI-related requirements, integrations, and processes
- Work with technical teams and third-party providers on system integrations
- Support the design, development, testing, and implementation of IT solutions
- Produce clear process maps, requirements documentation, and technical documentation
- Facilitate workshops and stakeholder meetings
- Support UAT, defect resolution, and implementation activities
- Identify dependencies, risks, and potential impacts across systems and processes
- Act as the bridge between business users and technical teams throughout the project lifecycle
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Technical IT Business Analyst
- Strong EDI experience is essential
- Good understanding of system integrations, interfaces, and data flows
- Experience gathering and documenting complex business and technical requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience working with both business and technical teams
- Good understanding of software development and project delivery lifecycles
- Experience with testing, UAT, and implementation
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Manufacturing sector experience highly desirable
- Experience with ERP, supply chain, or manufacturing systems would be advantageous
