The Opportunity
We are looking for a highly organised and compliance-focused Contractor Controller to join our Facilities Management team at the iconic Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an engineering and FM background who thrives in a fast-paced environment where safety, compliance and operational excellence are paramount. You'll play a critical role in ensuring all subcontractor activities are planned, coordinated and delivered safely, compliantly and in line with both client expectations and Wates' operating standards.
Working closely with the Account Manager, engineers, contract support teams and subcontractors, you'll become the key point of control for contractor compliance, site attendance planning and audit-ready documentation across the account.
What You'll Be Doing
As Contractor Controller, you'll be responsible for:
- Managing statutory and legal compliance documentation, ensuring records remain accurate, up to date and audit-ready.
- Coordinating subcontractor attendance, access requirements and planned maintenance activities.
- Reviewing and challenging contractor RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) to ensure safe systems of work are in place.
- Supporting Permit to Work processes, including high-risk activities such as hot works and confined space operations.
- Maintaining contractor inductions, competency records and security clearances.
- Producing weekly compliance summaries and monthly reporting packs.
- Managing logbooks, evidence packs and document control processes.
- Supporting operational delivery in line with the Wates Operating Framework.
- Coordinating corrective actions and tracking non-conformances through to completion.
- Working closely with SHEQ teams to support audits, investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Iโm in my final year doing Economics and I donโt know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer โ it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donโt need a masters. Letโs look at the ones youโd be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet โ that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
