About the Role
We are looking for an experienced bookkeeping and management accounts contractor to support our growing portfolio of SME clients.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, has excellent attention to detail, and is proactive in identifying opportunities for process improvements and automation.
You will be responsible for ensuring bookkeeping records are accurate, management accounts are prepared to a high standard, and administrative tasks are completed efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Bookkeeping and account reconciliations
- Preparing monthly management accounts
- Supporting VAT returns and payroll processes
- Maintaining accurate financial records
- Identifying and correcting accounting discrepancies
- Assisting with client administrative tasks
- Reviewing existing processes and recommending improvements
- Suggesting and implementing automation opportunities where appropriate
- Liaising with the team regarding queries and corrections

Essential Requirements
- Previous bookkeeping and management accounts experience
- Strong knowledge of Xero (essential)
- Good understanding of VAT and payroll processes
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently
- Experience improving systems and processes
- Confident communicating issues and recommendations

Payment Terms
This is a project-based contractor role.
Payment will only be made once:
- The agreed project has been completed.
- The final review has been carried out.
- Any required corrections have been made.
- The work has been approved as complete.
Accuracy and quality are essential.
