Contract Analyst - Physical Commodities

Central London
£70,000 to £90,000 p.a. + Bonus & Benefits
Full Time, Office Based

Our client, a growing physical commodities trading business, is looking for a Contract Analyst to bring dedicated contracts capability to a desk where deal flow, and contractual complexity, is increasing.

This is a genuinely central role. You'll draft, review, and administer physical purchase and sale contracts, ensure commercial terms are captured accurately, and coordinate closely with counterparties, operations, and finance on shipping, quality, and payment terms. You'll also manage amendments, claims, and contractual compliance as trades move through their lifecycle.

Get this right and you materially reduce execution and legal risk on physical trades, while speeding up contract turnaround as the business scales; this is a role with real, visible commercial impact.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What you'll bring:

  • Three to seven years drafting and administering physical commodity contracts, with a trader, producer, or trade finance house
  • A degree in law, business, international trade, or a related discipline; a legal or contracts qualification is welcome, but practical contract experience matters more
  • Working knowledge of Incoterms, LME and exchange-linked pricing, quotational periods, weight and quality clauses, force majeure, title and risk transfer, and standard payment instruments such as letters of credit and open account terms
  • Experience handling amendments, claims, demurrage, and quality disputes, and escalating contractual risk appropriately
  • Confidence liaising directly with counterparties, operations, finance, and external counsel, and holding a firm line on terms under time pressure
  • Familiarity with a CTRM system for contract capture; Aspect experience is an advantage
  • Meticulous attention to detail, strong written English, and the ability to turn contracts around quickly without losing accuracy
