About

This business is a specialist recruitment and search business focused on the clean technology and sustainability sectors.

Our purpose is to help build a net-zero world by connecting exceptional people with businesses driving the energy transition.

We have grown rapidly from a three-person start-up into a team of nearly 40 across the UK and US, with ambitious plans to continue scaling. Our business is built around three core values: Collaboration, Authenticity and Ambition.

Historically, our focus has been predominantly permanent and retained search. However, our contract business is becoming an increasingly important part of our proposition. We currently have a growing contractor population and expect this to increase significantly over the coming 6–12 months.

We are therefore looking for an experienced Contracts & Compliance Lead to take ownership of this area and build the foundations for a scalable, robust contract function.

The Opportunity

This is a newly created role with significant scope and autonomy.

You will become the subject-matter lead for contracts, contractor compliance and associated risk, ensuring we have the right processes, documentation and controls in place as the contract side of the business grows.

Initially, this will be a standalone role, so you'll need to be comfortable getting into the detail and managing both strategic and hands-on responsibilities. As the business grows, the intention is to build out a wider contracts and compliance function around you.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys creating structure rather than inheriting a fully established process. You'll have the autonomy to assess what exists, identify gaps, introduce best practice and establish processes that can scale with the business.

Key Responsibilities

Contracts

  • Own the end-to-end contract management process across the contract recruitment business.
  • Review, negotiate and manage client and contractor agreements, terms of business, statements of work and associated documentation.
  • Identify contractual risks and ensure appropriate protections are in place.
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders and the sales team to ensure commercial requirements are balanced with contractual and compliance considerations.
  • Maintain accurate and accessible contract records and ensure appropriate version control.
  • Support the business with contractual queries and provide practical, commercially minded guidance.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Contractor Compliance

  • Take ownership of the compliance lifecycle for contractors, from onboarding through to ongoing engagement and offboarding.
  • Review and manage compliance requirements across different contractor arrangements and jurisdictions.
  • Work with the existing umbrella company PSL and contractor portal to ensure processes and controls are robust.
  • Ensure appropriate checks, documentation and records are completed and maintained.
  • Identify potential compliance or legal risks and escalate appropriately.
  • Help establish a consistent framework that can support a significantly larger contractor population.

Process & Risk

  • Review the current contract and compliance processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Create and implement clear SOPs, workflows and controls.
  • Introduce scalable processes that can support rapid growth without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Monitor regulatory and legislative developments relevant to the staffing and contracting industry.
  • Work closely with Finance and Operations to ensure processes align across the business.
  • Support the business as it expands its contract offering across the UK, Europe and US.
  • Help ensure the business remains compliant as the business, client base and contractor population grow.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong relationships with the sales team and gain buy-in for new processes and controls.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Finance and senior leadership.
  • Act as the internal point of contact for contracts and compliance queries.
  • Communicate complex contractual or compliance matters clearly and practically to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Become a trusted advisor to the wider business.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who can operate independently and take genuine ownership of this area. Ideally, you'll have:

  • 5+ years' experience in contracts, compliance or a related role within recruitment/staffing, ideally within the energy, renewables, clean technology or engineering sectors.
  • Experience working with contractor populations and contingent workforce models.
  • Strong knowledge of contracts, terms of business and contractor compliance.
  • Experience reviewing contractual documentation and identifying commercial or legal risk.
  • Ideally, exposure to UK, European and/or US contracting environments.
  • Experience working with umbrella companies, PSLs, contractor management systems or similar infrastructure would be advantageous.
  • Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach.
  • The confidence to work autonomously and make decisions without being micro-managed.
  • The ability to build processes from scratch and improve existing ways of working.

You don't need to be a qualified lawyer. We're particularly interested in commercially minded contracts and compliance professionals who understand the realities of staffing and contracting and can apply their knowledge practically.

The Person

This role will suit someone who wants ownership rather than a narrowly defined remit.

You'll be joining a high-growth business where things move quickly and where there isn't necessarily a pre-existing playbook for everything. You'll need to be comfortable asking questions, finding solutions and putting structure around an evolving area of the business.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Proactive: you see what needs doing and get on with it.
  • Highly organised: you can manage competing priorities without losing the detail.
  • Commercially minded: you understand that compliance needs to enable the business, not simply create barriers.
  • A strong communicator: you can influence senior stakeholders and build buy-in across Sales and Operations.
  • Pragmatic: you know when something needs escalation and when a practical solution is appropriate.
  • Collaborative: you enjoy working as part of a team and bringing people with you.
  • Ambitious: you want to build something and grow with the company.
