Role: (Senior) Contracts Manager

The Contracts Manager manages the entire lifecycle of a portfolio of construction projects on behalf of Connolly from the initial planning and costing to execution and completion. He/she will work closely with the Operational teams and key stakeholders across the business to manage the contracts, budgets and timelines to ensure successful project delivery. This person has a key role in the development, negotiation and review of contracts with clients, suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Contracts Manager, Senior Contracts Manager, Project Manager or similar construction management role.
  • Experience managing multiple construction projects/contracts simultaneously.
  • Strong contractor, subcontractor and supply chain management experience.
  • Experience managing project budgets, costs, programmes and resources.
  • Proven experience administering contracts, variations, instructions and change control processes.
  • Experience monitoring project performance, risk management and compliance.
  • Experience working directly with clients and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience leading, coordinating and developing site teams and/or junior managers.

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of construction project lifecycles from mobilisation through to handover.
  • Sound knowledge of procurement practices and contract administration.
  • Understanding of pre-contract and post-contract management responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of construction health & safety legislation and CDM regulations.
  • Understanding of quality assurance and compliance requirements within construction projects.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to identify risks, opportunities and cost-saving measures.

Qualifications

Relevant qualification in Construction Management, Project Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong planning, organisation and project coordination abilities.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver projects within deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and project reporting systems.
  • Ability to produce and present project performance updates to clients and senior stakeholders.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience within social housing, planned maintenance, refurbishment or maintenance contracts.
  • Experience managing small works programmes.
  • Experience operating in agile or fast-paced project environments.
  • Experience mentoring or developing Assistant Contracts Managers or similar roles.
  • Demonstrable track record of continuous improvement and process optimisation.
  • Strong reputation for collaborative working and high-quality project delivery.
  • Experience inspecting completed works against legislative, contractual and quality standards.
