Contracts Manager

Rayden Engineering Ltd is a Mechanical & Civil Engineering Company, based in the East Midlands of England; and specialising in the pre-fabrication, welding and installation of pipework systems of a wide variety of alloys. We are also involved in the installation of: Cross-country Pipelines and Pipeline Diversions (up to 30) and Above Ground Installations (AGIs).

We are currently executing major contracts nationwide for major oil & gas companies that include AGIs, pipelines and major civil works. Our continued success and growth over the past number of years now necessitates the appointment of an experienced Contracts Manager.

Rayden Engineering Ltd. prides itself in providing a high-quality service to its customers using a dedicated and committed team. We require a Contracts Manager who will have a proven track record in the above-mentioned industries with contracting experience, team ethos, high levels of motivation & commercial awareness, strong IT skills, excellent written & verbal communication skills, exceptional organisation & time management skills and will be able to demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation, and hence a good understanding of the importance of consistently providing a quality service to our clients.

As Contracts Manager, your role will involve the delivery of multiple projects nationwide and to effectively manage our team of Project Managers.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Operationally and commercially responsible for the successful delivery of the portfolio of all contracts
  • Ensuring Health and Safety standards are maintained to the highest level
  • Take overall responsibility for constructing the projects to a high standard, ensuring compliance with our clients specifications
  • Controlling and managing project / site budgets including profit and loss, and managing budget constraints
  • Maximise profit, minimise risk & protect commercial interests
  • Effectively manage our Contract Support Team
  • Overseeing Site Managers and Sub Contractors
  • Working with the procurement department to manage supply chains and cost effective purchasing on site
  • Executing programmes effectively
  • Managing change throughout the construction process
  • Ensuring quality and consistency of workmanship from all trades, from appointment to completion
  • Required to maintain records / diaries and actively support the resolution of all construction issues
  • Required to build positive and productive working relationships with our clients; delivering excellent customer service and seeking ways to continuously improve and exceed expectations
  • Be able to motivate team members to achieve predetermined goals and targets
  • Computer literate and a strong communicator both written and verbally

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Gained their experience in the pipeline / utilities industry
  • Excellent understanding of the gas and oil industry
  • Excellent financial, commercial, business knowledge and people acumen to support the operational team
  • Excellent people leadership skills, with evidence of the ability to engage and motivate people at all levels
  • Strong customer service ethos
  • Excellent customer presentational ability, both verbal and written
  • Proven track record in commercial, financial, operational, risk management, project planning & tracking ability and skills including working knowledge of a number of model forms of contract. (e.g. NEC3 & 4) therefore requires strong financial and commercial awareness skills
  • Sufficient expertise to support and advise the operational team on effective contractual and commercial approaches as well as to deliver and implement these
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a professional and effective operational team, ensuring objectives are set, monitored and achieved; and that all employees are appraised and have a personal development plan
  • The willingness and ability to 'roll up their sleeves', work well amongst others, and knowledgeably deliver contractually and commercially
  • The ability to demonstrate a good track record; working on civil / mechanical engineering projects and have a good understanding of the key issues affecting quality, safety and progress, along with the commercial elements of all projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and be looking to progress their career

Applicants should have a Construction related Higher National Certificate, Degree or equivalent, with previous contracts management experience of at least 10 years.

Salary: Competitive salary + excellent benefits package.
