Contracts Manager | £40,000-46,000 per annum | Manchester, M300JJ (within 50 miles radius)

Are you an experienced Contracts Manager who enjoys taking ownership of projects, improving processes, and ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard?

Do you have the leadership skills, commercial awareness, and operational experience needed to manage multiple operatives and contracts from start to finish?

The Role

An exciting opportunity for a Contracts Manager who can proactively take responsibility for the successful delivery of its painting and decorating projects - from tender handover through to completion.

Based between the AKF office and active project sites, you will play a key role in managing the execution of painting and decoration works across AKF’s projects, including AKF operatives, materials and plant, supporting clients, improving systems, and ensuring every project meets expectations for quality, safety, budget, and program.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

As a Contracts Manager, you will:

  • Manage the full operational delivery of projects from handover to completion.
  • Oversee workforce planning, project progress, quality, and safety standards.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Manage project management systems, including maintaining accurate site records.
  • Monitor Health & Safety compliance and support accreditation requirements.
  • Support tender preparation, material ordering, labour planning, and project setup.
  • Lead operational meetings and provide updates to senior management.
  • Drive improvements to processes and ways of working.

The Person

The ideal Contracts Manager will be proactive, organised, and confident managing multiple projects at once. You will have strong communication skills, a practical approach to problem-solving, and experience using project management systems and Microsoft 365.

You should be comfortable working with clients, leading individuals and teams of operatives, and maintaining visibility across live projects.

Needs to be a contract manager with experience of painting and decorating trades or at least interior fit out trades. Preferably within a subcontractor organisation.
