Groundworks Contracts Manager

Job Type: Permanent | Full-Time

Salary: Competitive Salary + Benefits Package

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Groundworks Contracts Manager to join an established and growing construction and civil engineering contractor.

The successful candidate will oversee the delivery of multiple groundworks and civil engineering projects across South Wales, managing site teams, subcontractors and project programmes to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and to the required standards.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong operational experience who is comfortable managing several projects and working closely with clients, commercial teams and site management.

  • Manage the successful delivery of multiple groundworks and civil engineering projects.
  • Oversee and support Site Managers and site teams across South Wales.
  • Manage subcontractors, labour, plant and resources.
  • Develop and monitor project programmes and ensure key milestones are achieved.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards.
  • Monitor project performance and identify potential risks, delays and opportunities.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and support to Site Managers and operational teams.
  • Assist with project planning, procurement and resource allocation.
  • Monitor commercial performance and work closely with the commercial team.
  • Ensure all necessary project documentation, records and reporting are maintained.
  • Attend site meetings and provide regular updates on project progress.
  • Drive a positive culture around health, safety, quality and environmental standards.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Contracts Manager, Senior Site Manager, Project Manager or similar senior operational role.
  • Strong background in groundworks and/or civil engineering.
  • Experience managing multiple sites and site teams.
  • Strong experience managing subcontractors and supply chains.
  • Good understanding of construction programming and project delivery.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Commercial and technical awareness.
  • Comfortable using IT systems, Microsoft Office and project/programming software.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction or a related discipline would be advantageous.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
