Lee Contracting Ltd | Chester & North West | £50,000 to £62,000 plus vehicle or allowance, fuel and pension

Lee Contracting is a growing groundworks and civil engineering contractor near Chester. We deliver full groundworks packages across residential, commercial and public sector projects throughout the North West and North Wales, and as we grow we're looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to take full ownership of our live projects and the teams delivering them.

This is a role for a genuine leader. As we take on more work, we need someone who can take a job and a crew and own the outcome from start to finish, who chases the loose ends, and who wants the responsibility of getting the best out of people across several sites. It's a people leadership role first and a technical one second. If you're happiest heads down in the detail and would rather the people side looked after itself, this isn't the role for you. But if you're the person your site teams come to first, and your instinct is to make sure nothing ever gets dropped, we'd like to hear from you.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What you'll own:

  • Full delivery of multiple live groundworks contracts, from mobilisation through to completion, on programme and on margin.
  • Leading and developing site supervisors, groundworkers and subcontractors. You are the first point of contact for everything happening on your sites.
  • Managing performance directly. Knowing who's strong, who needs support, and dealing with issues yourself rather than passing them up.
  • Working closely with our Quantity Surveyor on commercial control, including variations, applications and protecting margin on fixed price packages.
  • Being the dependable link between the directors and the sites, so the day to day runs without needing us in it.
