The Role
Reporting directly to the Southern Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for managing the efficient and effective delivery of client enquiries. You will ensure that exceptionally high levels of customer service are always maintained, whilst delivering on specified targets, including health & safety, commercial aspirations, compliance, and supporting the achievement of the Company’s objectives and work plans.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that supervisory and operational teams deliver on all the specified requirements of the services. Oversee the programme management of all works, including collaboration with client and internal departments.
- Positively encourage a safe working culture and behaviors engaging teams in accordance with legislation, safe systems of work, monitoring, and trend analysis. Assure that all operations are risk assessed, updated annually, and when required e.g. following incidents.
- Ensure that all Company policies and procedures and legal obligations are understood and adhered to by all members of staff. Including conducting disciplinaries up to and including dismissals.
- Maintain a sufficiently resourced and skilled on-call management, and operational response rota 24/7 365.
- Manage effective supply chain relationships for the delivery of sub-contracted elements of the services including traffic signage supply, advanced traffic management, and provision of road markings.
- Work with the senior leadership team to develop and implement innovative new commercial opportunities which continuously improve on the financial performance of the Company.
- To ensure that all direct reports and their teams are inducted and trained appropriately on an ongoing basis, appraised, and given opportunities to succeed.
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with the Client and internal/external customers. Attendance at Client/customer meetings as required. Ensure that all reports required as part of the Contract are delivered in time for meetings and any follow-up actions are completed in a timely manner.
- Work with the senior leadership team to assure all staff have access to appropriate welfare facilities; and that operational locations e.g. operational depot/s are maintained to a compliant and safe standard.
- Work with the Fleet Department to ensure sufficient mobile plant and vehicle allocation for the Services.
- Carry out any other such reasonable job-related tasks as the Company may require you to undertake from time to time.
- To take budgetary responsibility for Operational Costs. Work with the senior leadership team to ensure that all financial/budgeted targets are achieved for the Contract including but not limited to overtime, staff numbers, and revenue.
- Ensure that all incidents are investigated in a timely manner and oversee all insurance and reporting requirements.
- Work with temporary staff providers to ensure effective use of agency staff by ensuring that Supervisory teams control holidays and sickness.
- Deputise for the Contracts Manager and your direct reports in times of absence or sickness.

- Commercial awareness.
- Flexible/adaptable to cope with the variety of work and locations expected with the role.
- Able to work in reactive situations and fluctuating work volumes and depot resources.
- Ability to lead by example in respect of best practice and high standard traffic management practices.
- Self-driven, results-oriented, with a ‘can do’ attitude without compromising safety and/or compliance.
- Ability to produce and maintain accurate and clear records.
- Ability to cope with the demands of additional duties involved within the role such as long periods of driving.
- Willing to learn and further develop to gain qualifications required to carry out some of the duties involved.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including employees, management, regulatory agencies, and the community.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Experience in all aspects of 12D traffic management (B desirable)
- Experience in managing a team.
- Experience in contract management and customer liaison.
Qualifications & Training
- Sector Scheme 12d M6.
- Full Driving License
- Appropriate CSCS qualification for the position or equivalent
