Help Deliver the Infrastructure Powering the UK's Future
We are expanding our Power & Energy business and are looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to play a leading role in the delivery of major Transmission & Distribution (T&D) infrastructure projects across the UK.
As the energy sector continues to evolve, significant investment is being made into the UK's electricity network to support decarbonisation, renewable generation and long-term energy security. Our teams are at the forefront of delivering the civil engineering and building infrastructure that enables this transformation, working alongside some of the country's most important energy providers and network operators.
This is an opportunity to join a growing business with ambitious plans within the Power & Energy sector, taking ownership of a portfolio of projects that directly support the UK's transition to a more resilient and sustainable energy network.
About The Role
As Contracts Manager, you will provide operational leadership across a portfolio of T&D projects, ensuring safe, efficient and commercially successful delivery from pre-construction through to completion.
You will work closely with our estimating, commercial and operational teams to develop delivery strategies, support tender activities and ensure projects are mobilised effectively. Building strong relationships with clients, supply chain partners and key stakeholders will be central to your success.
This is a highly visible role where you'll influence project performance, drive operational excellence and help shape the future growth of our Power & Energy business.
A Typical Day in the Life of a Contracts Manager at AmcoGiffen
- Lead the safe and successful delivery of multiple Power T&D projects across a national portfolio.
- Ensure projects are delivered on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
- Drive operational performance across all stages of project delivery, from mobilisation through to close-out.
- Work alongside commercial and estimating teams to identify opportunities, manage risks and maximise project performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients including National Grid, SSE, SPEN, NGED and other network operators.
- Lead, mentor and develop project teams, creating a high-performance culture focused on safety, quality and delivery excellence.
- Oversee programme management, resource planning and subcontractor performance across multiple contracts.
- Support pre-construction activities including PQQ submissions, tender reviews and delivery planning.
- Champion SHEQ standards and ensure full compliance across all project activities.
- Identify opportunities for repeat business, framework growth and long-term client partnerships.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
