We have a new opportunity for a Contracts Manager to join our team, based in Trident Park ERF in Cardiff, working 37.5 hours per week. Hybrid working is optional.

Role Overview
This is a key role responsible for the management and optimisation of fuel supply contracts, ensuring contractual obligations are met while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, environmental performance, and commercial efficiency.
Working closely with operational teams, fuel suppliers, hauliers, contractors, and customers, you will play a pivotal role in securing fuel supply, managing contract performance, mitigating risk, and building strong stakeholder relationships.
What You'll Be Doing
As Contracts Manager, you will:
- Manage all fuel supply contracts, including Local Authority, Commercial & Industrial, and merchant fuel agreements.
- Ensure contractual, regulatory, legal, and company compliance requirements are fully met.
- Monitor and evaluate contract performance, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain contract risk registers and mitigation plans.
- Work closely with site operations teams to ensure fuel availability meets operational requirements.
- Manage relationships with fuel suppliers, hauliers, customers, and key stakeholders.
- Develop contingency plans to maintain fuel supply during planned and unplanned outages.
- Source fuel in line with budget, commercial targets, quality specifications, and Net Calorific Value (NCV) requirements.
- Lead contractual discussions and negotiations to achieve optimal commercial outcomes.
- Monitor and report on contractual performance, implementing improvements where required.
- Maintain accurate contract documentation, correspondence, status reports, and change records.
- Act as the primary contractual contact for Local Authority, Commercial & Industrial, and merchant customers.
- Support and deputise for the Head of Contracts and provide support across regions as needed.

What We're Looking For
Essential Knowledge & Experience
- Strong contract management experience.
- Commercial contract negotiation and management expertise.
- Experience managing complex contracts, payment mechanisms, and performance frameworks.
- Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, profit and loss accounts, and financial reporting.
- Proven experience building and managing client relationships.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify and deliver value.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities.
Essential Skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confident negotiator with strong influencing abilities.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Ability to produce high-quality reports and present information to a range of audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable
- Experience within the waste management, environmental services, energy, or resource recovery sectors.
- Knowledge of waste industry legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience of Local Authority contract delivery.
- Tender preparation, submission, and bid management experience.
- Weighbridge system experience.
- Experience implementing new systems and operational processes.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent health and safety qualification.
- Degree-level education or a recognised management qualification.
Qualifications
Essential
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
Desirable
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent.
- Management qualification.
- Health & Safety qualification (NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent).
