About the role

Location: Westhill, Aberdeenshire
Hours: Full Time - 37.5 hours per week

Reporting to the Head of Contracts, the Contracts Specialist will possess excellent attention to detail, strong commercial awareness and the ability to work independently whilst recognising when to seek appropriate guidance. Supporting Motive's operations globally, the role is responsible for reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial contracts and subcontracts, ensuring contractual compliance, mitigating commercial risk and supporting the successful delivery of Motive's strategic and operational objectives.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, the Contracts Specialist will provide commercially focused contractual advice throughout the contract lifecycle. The role will also contribute to the continuous development of contract management processes, promote consistency across the Group and support the wider Contracts team in driving best practice across the business.

About the team

As a part of our Contracts team, you’ll become part of a small, hardworking, and diligent team who are used to working to a high standard and are as meticulous about the small details as you can wish to hope for from a Contracts team.

You will be supported by a contracts team, whose goal, much like your own, will be to enable smooth and efficient contract management processes, driving success across various business functions. Collaboration and communication will be key as you work together to ensure that contracts are not only legally sound but also aligned with the company's long-term vision and operational needs.

Responsibilities

People

  • Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including client contracts, general terms and conditions, confidentiality agreements and other associated contractual documentation.
  • Review, draft and negotiate standalone subcontractor agreements, ensuring that appropriate commercial and contractual risks are identified and that, where applicable, back-to-back obligations from client contracts are accurately flowed down to subcontractors to protect Motive's position.
  • Work closely with Motive’s Buyers, Sales and Technical teams to develop commercially and contractually robust subcontracting strategies that support project delivery.
  • Provide clear and practical advice on contract terms and conditions to internal and external stakeholders in order to resolve disputes / claims / general queries.
  • Create and refine Motive’s contract templates to streamline processes and ensure consistency across all agreements – aligning this with the other Motive regions.
  • Support the development and negotiation of strategic framework agreements with key clients, ensuring mutually beneficial commercial terms that align with Motive's business objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders at the bid / tender stage to ensure that contractual risks are understood in context – including the creation and distribution of detailed risk profiles.
  • Support and participate in the negotiation of variation / change requests, proactively identifying areas of risk or opportunity for improvement.
  • Serve as the point of contact for clients and suppliers on contractual matters, providing guidance and ensuring clear communication throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Monitor client contracts throughout their lifecycle to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, identify emerging risks and support the effective management of contractual issues.
  • Support contract close-out activities, capturing lessons learned and identifying opportunities to improve contractual processes, templates and commercial outcomes.
  • Promote consistency in contractual practices across regions, collaborating with colleagues across the wider Group to align processes, templates and risk management approaches.
  • Work alongside the wider team to maintain accurate contract records, approvals, obligations and executed agreements within Motive's Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system.
  • Stay updated on industry standards, legal changes, and best practices to continuously improve contract processes and procedures.
  • Participate in contracts training and ongoing development where required.
  • Provide support to the Head of Contracts and Contracts Manager in the delivery of departmental objectives and other activities as required.
  • Adopt and promote the Motive Offshore Group People Values and ensure their use is embedded throughout.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
