About MacroSfera
MacroSfera is a student-led media publication exploring financial markets, economics and geopolitics, with a focus on making complex developments accessible to a wider audience. We publish independent, well-researched analysis and value critical thinking, attention to detail, intellectual curiosity and an ambitious approach to learning. MacroSfera brings together students and emerging professionals from universities and backgrounds internationally, providing contributors with an opportunity to develop their research, analytical and writing abilities while contributing to a growing publication.
The Role
As a Research Writer, you will research and analyse developments across financial markets, economics, business and geopolitics. You will turn your research into clear, structured and engaging articles, working alongside senior editors throughout the writing and editing process. Writers may cover a range of topics depending on their interests, expertise and the needs of the publication.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Researching financial, economic, business and geopolitical developments using credible sources.
- Analysing and synthesising information from multiple sources.
- Producing accessible articles that explain complex developments clearly.
- Working with senior editors to refine arguments, structure and writing style.
- Meeting agreed publishing deadlines.
- Engaging with reader feedback and contributing ideas for future content.
- Working collaboratively with other writers and members of the editorial team.

What You Can Gain

- Build a published portfolio of financial, economic and geopolitical writing that you can reference on your CV, LinkedIn and applications.
- Develop research and analytical skills through investigating real-world financial, economic and geopolitical developments.
- Strengthen your research skills, including source evaluation, fact-checking and synthesising information.
- Receive editorial feedback from senior members of the publication and develop your writing through multiple drafts.
- Develop professional writing skills applicable to careers in finance, economics, consulting, journalism, policy and related fields.
- Work with students and emerging professionals internationally, expanding your professional network beyond your university.
- Progress within MacroSfera into senior writing, editorial or leadership responsibilities as the organisation grows.
- Gain experience working to editorial deadlines and standards in a collaborative remote environment.

What We Are Looking For
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to improve your work.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Genuine interest in financial markets, economics, business, geopolitics or global affairs.
- Foundational knowledge of at least one of these areas, with a willingness to develop knowledge across others.
- Strong research skills, including the ability to identify, evaluate and synthesise credible sources.
- Excellent written communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity, structure and readability.
- Intellectual curiosity and the ability to critically assess information.
- Adaptability and willingness to incorporate editorial feedback.
Desirable, But Not Required
- Currently studying or having completed a degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business, Politics, International Relations or a related subject.
- Previous experience writing articles, essays, research or analytical content.
- Previous involvement in a student publication, society, research project or similar organisation.
- Familiarity with financial news, economic data, geopolitical developments or financial markets.
