Job Description
Join Syngenta’s Engineering team at Huddersfield Manufacturing Centre and help keep a large, technically complex manufacturing site safe, reliable and efficient. This is a varied, hands-on EC&I role where no two days are the same: from planned maintenance and calibration to fault-finding, plant improvements and critical breakdown support. You will work with modern and legacy equipment, building broad technical capability while making a visible difference to plant performance and safety. You will join a proactive, collaborative and supportive team that takes pride in delivering high-quality work, safely and on time.
Job Description
As a Control & Electrical Engineering Technician, you will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and provide essential engineering support across the site. You will plan, prioritise and deliver maintenance activities using SAP, working closely with Operations, asset teams, Plant Maintenance Engineering and in-house contractors to minimise downtime and improve reliability.
You will be trusted to work independently within robust Safe Systems of Work, while contributing to a team focused on Operational Excellence, continuous improvement and safe plant operation. The role is site-based in Huddersfield, normally working 07:50–15:30, with overtime and occasional extended hours in line with operational requirements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
