Control & Instrumentation Engineer

Eggborough

At Saint-Gobain Glass (part of Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland), we're shaping the future of manufacturing through automation, digital innovation, and continuous improvement. We're looking for a Control & Instrumentation Engineer to play a key role in maintaining and developing the technology that keeps our production operations running at their best.

From PLCs and SCADA systems to industrial networks and Industry 4.0 technologies, you'll have the opportunity to drive reliability, lead improvement projects, and make a lasting impact on a world-class manufacturing site.

What we’re looking for:

  • Degree level education or equivalent experience in Electrical Control, Automation or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Good maintenance diagnostic skills including electrical installations as well as practical skillset of working with industrial networks, Scada systems & PLC's (knowledge of Siemens, Allen Bradley and Yokogawa will be an advantage)
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Experience of managing contractors to provide cost effective and efficient engineering support to the site,
  • The ability to operate within a maintenance system utilising World Class Manufacturing reliability centred maintenance techniques and PPM routines will be an advantage.
  • The ability to manage projects and participate in WCM Pillars to continually improve our processes.

What you will be doing:

  • Maintaining and developing the Control, Automation & Instrumentation capability and services on site. This will include PLC's, Drives, SCADA systems as well as industrial network infrastructure and Industry 4.0 devices.
  • Developing and implementing process and system improvements, to increase cost effectiveness, systems reliability and performance of the operations of Saint-Gobain Glass UK.
  • You’ll have responsibility for the creation, implementation and management of approved capital projects.
  • Ensuring that team members are aware of new developments, technologies, regulations and best practice.
  • Complying with statutory requirements such as health and safety, the environment, other appropriate legislation and with social responsibilities.
  • Supporting the manufacturing team in achieving objectives with regard to product quality, product development and line efficiency.
  • Providing out of hours support and cover to the manufacturing line when required.
  • Driving the continuous improvement programme (World Class Manufacturing) onsite using relevant tools and techniques
