G MASS Consulting is partnered with a leading Hedge Fund, as they seek a Control Room Business Analyst to join its Compliance function in London.
This role sits within a broader compliance operating model built around versatile, mindset-led analysts rather than narrow specialists. The successful candidate will bring a control room or restriction list background, but will be expected to operate across the wider compliance operations function as priorities shift. This is a lean, fast-moving environment, so the ability to self-direct, take ownership, and hit the ground running matters as much as technical grounding.
Responsibilities:
- Support the day-to-day operation of the control room function, including management of restriction lists and information barriers.
- Monitor and review position limits, escalating breaches or anomalies in line with firm policy.
- Maintain accurate records of restricted and watch list activity, ensuring timely updates as trading and corporate activity evolves.
- Partner with front office, legal, and technology teams to resolve queries and ensure controls remain fit for purpose.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing processes, controls, and documentation, and take the initiative to implement enhancements.
- Assist with periodic reviews, regulatory requests, and audit queries as they arise.
- Flex across other compliance operations areas as required, given the fungible nature of the team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
