About The Role

Balfour Beat Beatty is looking for a vigilant and professional CCTV Operator to join our Asset & Technology Solutions business in Derby.

Based within our CCTV Control Room at Raynesway, you will monitor surveillance and alarm systems to help maintain the safety and security of our premises, people and assets. You will analyse live and recorded footage, identify potential security concerns and respond promptly to incidents or equipment issues.

This is a shift-based position that includes nights, weekends and public holidays. The role requires sustained concentration, sound judgement and the ability to remain calm when responding to security incidents.

What you'll be doing

As a CCTV Operator, Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Continuously monitoring CCTV screens and alarm systems for suspicious or unusual activity
  • Tracking individuals and events across different areas to identify potential threats or security breaches
  • Reviewing live and recorded footage to detect incidents or patterns of behaviour that may present a security risk
  • Reporting security breaches and suspicious activity to the appropriate security teams, managers or emergency services
  • Maintaining accurate daily logs and preparing clear, detailed incident reports
  • Carrying out regular checks of CCTV cameras, alarm systems and associated equipment
  • Troubleshooting minor technical issues and escalating significant faults to the relevant technical support team
  • Ensuring surveillance footage is recorded, stored and handled in accordance with data protection legislation, privacy requirements and company procedures
  • Supporting the training of new team members in CCTV systems, security procedures and incident protocols
  • Working closely with security personnel and emergency services, providing real-time information and access to footage when required
  • Remaining alert, calm and professional when responding to incidents and working under pressure

Who we're looking for

The Following Qualification Is Essential

  • A valid Security Industry Authority Front Line CCTV Licence

You Will Also Have

  • Previous experience as a CCTV Operator or within a relevant security role would be desirable.
  • Experience or confidence in operating CCTV equipment, surveillance software and alarm systems
  • Basic computer skills for data entry, incident reporting and footage management
  • Excellent observational skills and strong attention to detail
  • The ability to identify suspicious behaviour and respond appropriately
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • The confidence to communicate effectively during high-pressure situations
  • A calm, logical approach to problem-solving and decision-making
  • An understanding of data protection, privacy requirements and security protocols relating to CCTV operations
  • The concentration and stamina needed to remain seated and monitor multiple screens for extended periods
  • A patient, composed and professional manner
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills when working with internal and external stakeholders
