Control Software Engineer
Salary: up to £55,000 depending on experience and expertise
Location: East Midlands, commutable from Nottingham, Leicester, and Coventry

Our client has nearly 40 years of experience in manufacturing bespoke automation and robotic systems for various industrial applications. They are recognized as one of the leading automation system solution providers in the UK. Due to their continued success and strategic growth, they are looking to hire an experienced and enthusiastic Control Software Engineer to join their professional team and deliver machine control system solutions for automated machinery projects.
Job Description
As a Control Software Engineer, you will be responsible for writing and developing software, PLC and HMI coding for various automation projects. Your duties will include:
- Electrical design and creation of machine control system solutions for special purpose automated machinery projects.
- Delivering control and safety systems that comply with the machinery directive and applicable standards.
- Electrical system design, selection of components, and generating detailed circuit diagrams.
- Integration of various robots, including SCARA, Delta, and 6-axis.
- Liaising extensively with customers, suppliers, and team members, requiring effective communication skills at all levels.
- Working autonomously and as part of a team to deliver projects within budgetary and timescale constraints.

You will also:
- Follow projects through from design, development, and commissioning stages on machine control and safety systems.
- Create associated electrical documentation, including circuit diagrams, cable schedules, installation documents, BOMs, and bills of materials.
- Ensure machine electrical systems and safety systems comply with relevant European and international safety standards.
- Select and procure all necessary components correctly.

To be considered for this role, you should have:
- At least 5 years of experience in software design and PLC coding.
- Experience working with Omron, Siemens, and Allen Bradley equipment is advantageous.
- Comprehensive skills and experience in electrical design for machine automation using ePlan.
- Knowledge and understanding of national and international electrical standards for machine design and safety systems.
- A degree or equivalent in electrical/electronic engineering or a related control system discipline.
- A flexible approach to travel to customer sites across the UK if required.
