Job Title
Salary: up to GBP 55,000 + benefits
Location: East Midlands, commutable from Nottingham, Leicester, and Coventry
About the Company
Our client is a leading provider of bespoke automation and robotic systems with almost 40 years of experience in the UK. Due to continued success and strategic growth, they are recruiting an experienced Control Software Engineer.
Role Overview
As a Control Software Engineer, you will be responsible for writing and developing software, PLC and HMI coding for various automation projects. You will also be responsible for the electrical design and creation of machine control system solutions for special purpose automated machinery projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and write software, PLC and HMI coding for automation projects.
- Design and create machine control system solutions for automated machinery projects.
- Deliver control and safety systems compliant with machinery directive and applicable standards.
- Design electrical systems, select components, and generate detailed circuit diagrams.
- Integrate various robots, including SCARA, Delta, and 6-axis.
- Liaise extensively with customers, suppliers, and team members.
- Ensure machine electrical systems and safety systems comply with relevant European and international safety standards.
- Create associated electrical documentation including circuit diagrams, cable schedules, installation documents, BOMs, and bills of materials.

Project Management
- Follow projects through design, development, and commissioning stages.
- Ensure projects are completed within budgetary and timescale constraints.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in software design and PLC coding.
- Experience with Omron, Siemens, and Allen Bradley equipment is advantageous.
- Comprehensive skills and experience in electrical design for machine automation using ePlan.
- Knowledge of national and international electrical standards for machine design and safety systems.
- Degree level or equivalent in electrical/electronic engineering or a closely related control system discipline.
- Flexible approach to travel to customer sites across the UK if required.
