We are a growing engineering company specialising in the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of bespoke automated machinery and production lines for customers across the UK and internationally.
As our business continues to expand, we are looking for an experienced PLC Control Programmer to join our engineering team and play a key role in delivering innovative automation solutions.
If you enjoy solving technical challenges, developing high-performance control systems and seeing your designs come to life on the factory floor and at customer sites, we'd like to hear from you.
The Role
You will be responsible for developing, testing and commissioning PLC and HMI software for bespoke automated machinery and production systems. Working closely with our mechanical, electrical and project teams, you will support projects from initial design through factory testing, installation and final customer acceptance.

- Develop PLC software for bespoke automated machinery and production lines.
- Design and configure HMI applications.
- Integrate motion control systems, drives, sensors and field devices.
- Support electrical design reviews and control system architecture.
- Conduct software testing and debugging during machine build.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
- Commission machinery at customer sites in the UK and occasionally overseas.
- Diagnose and resolve software and control system issues.
- Produce clear technical documentation and maintain software version control.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Mechanical Design Engineers and Electrical Engineers to ensure successful project delivery.
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience programming PLC-controlled industrial machinery.
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems.
- Experience with HMI development.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and control system drawings.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel for commissioning activities.

Desirable
- Experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens or Mitsubishi PLC platforms.
- Knowledge of servo systems, variable speed drives and industrial networking.
- Experience integrating robotic systems such as FANUC, ABB, KUKA or Universal Robots.
- Familiarity with safety PLCs and machine safety standards.
- Previous experience within packaging, food, pharmaceutical or manufacturing automation industries.
