Role Description

Controls is seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to support the development, testing and commissioning of industrial automation and control systems.

The role will involve working with PLC, HMI, SCADA and motion-control technologies, as well as supporting the integration of operational technology with wider IT systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and develop industrial control and automation solutions.
  • Develop and commission PLC, HMI and SCADA systems.
  • Configure industrial networks and communication protocols.
  • Program drives and motion-control systems.
  • Carry out factory testing and site commissioning.
  • Support the convergence of IT and operational technology systems.

Essential Requirements:

PLC and HMI Programming: Develop logic and interfaces using some or all of the following platforms:

  • Siemens TIA Portal
  • Rockwell Studio 5000
  • Schneider EcoStruxure
  • Mitsubishi GX Works

SCADA Deployment: Configure supervisory control and data acquisition systems such as Wonderware/AVEVA, Ignition or WinCC.

Industrial Networks: Set up and secure industrial protocols, including PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP and OPC UA.

Drives and Motion Control: Program variable-speed drives, servo motors and multi-axis motion systems.

Factory Testing and Site Commissioning: Test and commission PLC, HMI, SCADA and motion-control systems.

IT/OT Convergence: Support the integration of information technology and operational technology systems.

Desirable Experience:

Database and ERP Integration: Connect plant-floor SCADA systems to SQL databases and enterprise software such as SAP.

Industrial Cybersecurity: Implement network segmentation and firewalls in accordance with the IEC 62443 standard.
