Role Description
The Control System Engineer is a full-time role based in Glasgow City with a hybrid working arrangement, combining on-site work with some flexibility to work from home. In this role, the engineer designs, develops, and implements control systems for building, energy management, and renewable energy projects, ensuring systems meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Producing control system designs and documentation
- Configuring and programming control hardware and software
- Supporting commissioning and testing activities on-site
- Troubleshooting and resolving control system issues
- Optimizing system performance
- Collaborating closely with project managers, electrical engineers, and clients to deliver tailored solutions
The role also involves contributing to continuous improvement, maintaining technical standards, and supporting the integration of SMART and sustainable technologies across projects.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Process Control and Control Systems Design, with the ability to develop and implement effective control strategies.
- Applied knowledge of Electrical Engineering principles relevant to control systems, including familiarity with industrial instrumentation and control hardware.
- Experience in Systems Engineering, including system integration, configuration, and performance optimization across complex projects.
- Proven Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving control system faults, performance issues, and commissioning challenges.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with building management systems, energy management, or renewable energy controls is highly beneficial.
- Competence with relevant PLC/SCADA platforms, programming tools, and industrial communication protocols.
- Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Awareness of health, safety, and environmental standards; experience working to ISO or similar quality management frameworks is an advantage.
