Controls & Commissioning Engineer

6-month initial contract
£45/hour – Outside IR35
Hybrid - Norwich
Occasional travel to Singapore, Vietnam & Turkey required

OVERVIEW

Looking for a hands-on Controls & Commissioning Engineer to support the testing and commissioning of specialist equipment and control systems. The role will involve Siemens PLC/HMI systems, FATs, SATs and commissioning, with equipment including HPU packages and fire suppression control panels.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • PLC and HMI testing, programming and fault-finding
  • Carry out FAT, iFAT and SAT activities
  • Hands-on commissioning of control systems and equipment
  • I/O checks, loop checks and functional testing
  • Test Cause & Effect and control sequences
  • Support HPU and fire suppression control systems
  • Troubleshoot controls, instrumentation and PLC issues
  • Read and work from P&IDs, schematics and technical drawings
  • Work with suppliers and clients during testing and commissioning
  • Complete commissioning documentation and handover

SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years' experience in Controls, Automation, Instrumentation or Commissioning
  • Strong Siemens TIA Portal experience
  • Experience with WinCC
  • PLC programming and fault-finding
  • FAT, SAT and hands-on commissioning experience
  • Experience with I/O and loop checks
  • Ability to read P&IDs and control/electrical drawings
  • Experience with hydraulic or pneumatic systems
  • Experience working in ATEX / hazardous environments
