Our client is a well-established manufacturer of innovative equipment for a variety of industry sectors including aerospace, wind and automotive industry sectors. As a Control Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for developing controls software for manufacturing equipment, providing technical support to engineers and customers and managing system projects from initial concept through to delivery.

Control Systems Engineer Responsibilities

  • Design and develop control systems for specialist manufacturing machinery and equipment
  • Develop, program and modify PLC-based control systems
  • Develop control system concepts, software specifications and supporting documentation
  • Support the design and integration of electrical and electronic control systems
  • Research new solutions, technologies and techniques to enhance our equipment and processes
  • Support the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and design through to build, testing, commissioning and customer handover
  • Test, troubleshoot and optimise control systems during equipment build and commissioning
  • Support on-site commissioning and testing of equipment in the UK and internationally

Control Systems Engineer Requirements

  • Relevant engineering qualification such as a degree, HNC, HND or apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience
  • Practical commercial/industrial experience in control systems, automation, electrical/electronic engineering or a closely related role
  • Experience developing or working with PLC-based control systems
  • Experience with industrial automation and machinery control
  • Experience developing, modifying, testing or troubleshooting control software
  • Strong technical understanding with the ability to develop accurate, practical engineering solutions
  • Understanding of electrical and electronic control systems
  • Ability to interpret relevant technical information, schematics and engineering documentation
  • Practical understanding of equipment testing, commissioning and fault-finding
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly and work effectively with colleagues, suppliers and clients
  • Experience with Siemens TIA Portal and HMI development.
