The Role
D2H Advanced Technologies is an engineering consultancy delivering innovative solutions across multiple engineering disciplines, including software and controls engineering, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, mechanical design, composites, and data analysis. Originating from high-performance motorsport, we support clients across sectors including automotive, motorsport, electrification, aviation, defence, industrial, and elite sports applications.
We are seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join our growing team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge engineering solutions for a diverse range of technically challenging projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop control system architectures for customer projects using a range of technologies.
- Develop, test, and validate embedded software and control algorithms.
- Support data acquisition, instrumentation, and system integration activities.
- Create technical documentation, specifications, and test procedures.
- Support commissioning, calibration, and troubleshooting of control systems.
- Collaborate with mechanical, software, aerodynamic, and simulation engineers to deliver integrated engineering solutions.

Required Skills & Experience
- Degree in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Understanding of control systems engineering principles and their application to real-world systems.
- Strong understanding of physical systems and the underlying physics/mechanics of the systems being controlled, with an ability to connect this understanding to control system behaviour and performance.
- Experience developing or implementing control strategies and algorithms, ideally within safety-critical or performance-focused applications.
- Ability to evaluate control system performance using simulation, testing, and data-driven validation techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks.
- Good understanding of Control Theory, including linear system design, transfer functions, Laplace-domain (s-domain) analysis, stability analysis (Bode, Nyquist, and Root Locus methods), and digital filtering techniques is advantageous.
- Readiness to learn new technologies and solutions previously unknown to the applicant when a project so requires.

Desirable Experience
- MATLAB/Simulink model based firmware and simulation development.
- Automotive ECU or MCU development.
- PLC programming and industrial automation (Structured Text, Ladder Logic).
- Software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
- Programming in C, C++, and/or Python is advantageous.
- Familiarity with data analysis and visualisation tools is welcome (e.g. ATLAS, MoTeC i2, Pi Toolbox or similar).
- Knowledge of automotive and industrial automation communication protocols (like CAN, LIN, EtherCAT, TCP/IP, MODBUS, etc.) is advantageous.
- Existing experience in motorsport, automotive, electrification, aerospace, defence, or industrial automation sectors is viewed positively.
