Job Introduction

About The Role

The Control Tower Shift Manager will report to the Control Tower Manager and join the SCS Logistics team that manages construction logistics across the HS2 main works. They will be responsible for Control Tower Operations and ensuring all stakeholders' requirements are exceeded.

The role has line management responsibility for a team of logistics coordinators and will be expected to lead, coach and develop their team.

The role is aimed at an ambitious, dynamic and enthusiastic Logistics professional who wants to be part of a team that is developing a logistics operation which will be deployed across future major construction projects.

Main Responsibilities

Role Success Criteria

  • Promotion and implementation of SCS Core Values.
  • High Performing and Motivated Team.
  • Positive Engagement with the wider Logistics Team and the SCS Area Teams.
  • Completion of all shift tasks.
  • Good Relationship with the other shift manager to ensure smooth handover between shifts.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Control Tower Operations while on shift.
  • Daily briefings and high team performance.
  • Offering continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Deputising for Control Tower Manager when required.
  • Control Tower Systems Super User.
  • Escalation for any incidents / problem.
  • Management of Team Performance.
  • Good working relationship with all Stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in Construction Logistics advantageous but not essential.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English (essential).
  • Good organisation skills (essential).
  • Good IT skills eg Excel, Word (essential).
  • Be a team player.
  • Be a problem solver.
  • Positive, dynamic and enthusiastic.

About The Company

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high-speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high-speed services.

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.

Develop a culture of safety on the project through the absolute commitment to the Zero Accidents target and ethos, and develops a wider awareness of quality, environmental issues and demonstrates commitment to achieve continual improvement and Zero tolerance.
