Role Description

This full-time on-site Controls Automation Engineer role is based in Hull Bridge. The Controls Automation Engineer will design, program, test, and commission industrial control and automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA solutions for clients in sectors such as food production and oil and gas.   • Creating control system documentation, electrical schematics, and panel layouts
  • Collaborating with project teams to deliver turnkey solutions
  • Supporting installation, start-up, and functional testing on customer sites
  • Diagnosing and resolving control system faults

The role also involves maintaining high standards of safety and compliance, ensuring all work aligns with relevant regulations and client specifications.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of industrial control and automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and related field instrumentation.
  • Experience with electrical design, panel build, and control wiring, including reading and producing electrical schematics.
  • Proficiency in commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining automated systems in industrial environments.
  • Understanding of safety standards and regulations relevant to electrical and control systems in sectors such as food, oil, gas, and petrochemical.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, develop clear project reports, and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
  • Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., degree or vocational certification in Electrical, Control, or Automation Engineering) or equivalent industry experience.
  • Comfort working on-site, sometimes in demanding industrial environments, with a flexible approach to 24-hour call-out or occasional out-of-hours work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering efficient, sustainable engineering solutions.
