Controls Engineer
Location: Gloucestershire
UK & International Travel
We’re working with an established engineering business delivering bespoke machinery, automation, and control systems across a range of manufacturing environments.
We’re looking for an experienced Controls Engineer to join the team, with strong hands-on experience in PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming and a background in developing control systems for automated machinery.
What you’ll bring:
- Strong Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 experience
- Siemens TIA Portal experience advantageous
- Complex PLC programming and software development from the ground up
- HMI and SCADA development
- Industrial control systems and networks
- Proven machinery / manufacturing controls experience
- Experience designing and developing bespoke automation systems
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit engineering team
- Willingness to travel across the UK and internationally

What you’ll be doing:
- Working across automation projects from initial controls design and programming through to installation, commissioning, and customer handover.
- You’ll be involved in developing bespoke control systems, working closely with mechanical and electrical engineering teams, supporting panel build, commissioning systems on customer sites, and taking ownership of projects through to completion.

Experience with industrial robotics, FANUC, EPLAN, packaging systems, plastics processing machinery, or bespoke machinery would be advantageous, particularly for someone looking to develop their robotics skillset.
A practical technical assessment forms part of the recruitment process.
