Company Overview
Alloyed is a young venture-funded company of about 300 world-class metallurgists, engineers, and software developers working across the UK, Japan and the US to build the future of advanced metal components and systems. To do this, Alloyed uses proprietary software packages which combine advanced machine learning and physical modelling to invent better alloys, devise better ways to process them, and design better 3D-printed components and assemblies.
Alloyed is composed of a range of divisions, enabling metal technology from composition to systems:
- Core Technology: Alloyed's internal research and technology hub, focused on creating the new alloys, manufacturing methods, digital tools and intellectual property that will power the company's future products and capabilities.
- Innovation Services: Work directly with customers to develop, optimise and qualify materials and manufacturing processes for demanding aerospace, defence, energy and industrial applications.
- Component Engineering: Design, manufacture and validate production-ready components, turning material and process innovations into high-performance hardware for customer applications.
- Argive: Develop and manufacture complete microturbine engine systems under ambitious timelines and customer expectations, enabled by Alloyed’s software stack, proprietary Alloys and AM processing capabilities.
Whether you're a recent graduate or a current university student, we offer exciting opportunities to gain real-world engineering experience at Alloyed.
- Graduate Engineers: Full-time positions for graduates ready to launch their careers on or before September 2027.
- Summer Internships: 8-week placements for students looking to apply their learning in an industry environment starting in July 2027.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Role Overview
Argive, a division of Alloyed, is currently designing microturbine engines for jet propulsion applications. The system architecture is simple and scalable, with outer diameters ranging from 60-240mm. Argive’s development programme uses advanced manufacturing to increase performance compared to current state-of-the-art, leveraging complex designs and applying Alloyed’s suite of high-temperature materials. Additionally, the engines have a drastically reduced part count, low production cost and can be readily manufactured at scale.
Argive is seeking motivated engineers to support the design & prototyping of microturbine control systems across both hardware and firmware. This role involves close collaboration with mechanical design and experimental teams to validate and improve the control systems, and you will play a key role in the development and optimisation process. The role will cover all aspects of the engine control system; from design all the way through to testing.
You will be based at Alloyed’s site in Yarnton, north of Oxford.
Responsibilities
- Develop hardware and firmware solutions for the control of microturbines, including component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout, firmware development.
- Select and integrate new ancillaries for engine operation, coordinating their mechanical integration with the design team.
- Assist with the testing of new controls features, both at our on-site test facilities and off-site with customers.
- Assist with the integration of the controls system into complex and varied flight systems.
- Support engineering reviews within the controls team, maintaining high standards of clarity and accuracy.
- Investigating and root-causing failures and defects, ranging from non-conforming components to system controls failures.
- Work within a young, fast paced, agile development team in collaboration with other engineers and technicians.
- Work collaboratively to solve complex problems with innovative solutions.
